  1. MY Comedy Chats online is brilliant. A “Zoom” session has never been as enjoyable and entertaining. Maureen Younger and her comedian friends promote positive mental health through laughter and connected fun during these globally challenging times. From the other side of the world, I am able to share in the smiles and laughter with people from throughout the UK. These talented performers would not be available to me if not for Maureen’s commitment to ensuring comedy has a platform during pandemic isolation. When the show ends, Maureen opens up the chat to engage her audience and makes you feel welcomed as a friend. Indeed, though I have never met her face-to-face, she feels like a friend… one who is there to make your life brighter.

Maureen has established a dedicated fan in me.

  2. Comment: My Comedy Chats – Review

I’ve been listening to this online gem since it started a few weeks ago and it’s just wonderful. Maureen, as I’ve told her a number of times, is a sitcom in human form. #BeMoreMaureen

The chats are lighthearted discussions centred around anecdotes from the comedians about their comedy lives, anarchic stage faux pas’s and how they are feeling about being stuck indoors, or not as in the case of Zoe Lyons and her wee delivery van. The audience are invited to ask questions via the online chat or occasionally directly to the invited comedians. Audience participation makes the chat flow delightfully.

Maureen will talk about her week and weave some of the questions around what she’s been up to, invariably something very silly or particularly strange. Week 1 began with her broadcasting from her outside bins as her wi-fi was down and another week about doing exercise with Joe Wicks which didn’t end well but was an excellent anecdote for the potential #BeMoreMaureen sitcom.

I highly recommend you tune in for an hour of comedy with comedians you may or may not know but will definitely want to see and hear again.

  3. I have been to many Comedy Nights and LOVE every single one I attend. Maureen has a fabulous approach and great guests that always have us laughing all the way home. I have been, and am aware I probably still am the butt of many of Maureen’s jokes, but that is fine she is great, these nights are AMAZING and if you haven’t got your ticket yet, then why not?
    See you after lockdown Maureen!

  4. Love My Comedy chats with Maureen Younger at the Retro Bar London and have fond memories of mayhem, hilarity and split your sides, jaywalking laughter reliving the onslaught of great comic acts on route to the tube station afterwards.Thrilled Maureen has taken My Comedy online. What’s not to love about laughter and banter with these great comedians and Maureen’s sharp compering skills. This is the best comedy night in and out.

  5. Absolutely love her!
Seen her many times now in a few locations.
Maureen is funny, quick witted and always puts on shows with some big name female comics and promotes up and coming comediennes too.

  6. I stumbled across MY Comedy Chats and fuckin hell I’m so glad I did. In these weird times we’re living through we need a Maureen Younger and the fabulous guests that come to chat. Via Zoom, you feel absolutely comfortable in the audience, can join in or not, but I bet you can’t help but laugh! 10/10 Maureen and huge respect for cracking on and truly making the best of it!

  7. Maureen Younger hosts ‘My Comedy’ first Thursday in the month at the Retro Bar in Charing Cross. This event has in the past few years been quietly celebrated amongst the LGBT London community. With nominations for Planet London awards, the noise, along with the laughter each month, is increasing.

MC Maureen, mines rich seams of her life’s experiences to hot up the mainly gay audience of very mixed nationalities, her thought provoking barbs on life in the London cultural soup spark and provoke an audience just getting comfy with their first drink. The crowd soon pays attention as she strides the stage like a dominatrix, the audience eager to feel the wind whistle past their ears with the flick of her whip.

These nights provide a great platform for up, coming and arrived female comedians who can explore and expound their art in a line up where they don’t have to feel like a token. The LGBT community is not adverse to mixed comedy nights but welcomes the chance to see more women on stage and at My Comedy, a fun and furious night is guaranteed with up to 6 comedians in a show. It is one that invites the audience to expose their xenophobias and ditch them in favour of a spirit of mutual curiosity and understanding. If you think LGBT sounds like a union? If you are prone, just a little – and aren’t we all – to take our politics too seriously then this is the antidote.

My Comedy is a must see. Many more cities and town would welcome a similar platform for women, the potential audience is huge.

Rising popularity will mean its star will soon shine too brightly for the super friendly small venue. See it soon.

  8. The Retro bar in London is my favourite place to perform. I always feel supported and there is always a warm friendly atmosphere, mainly down to Maureen’s compering skills. She is funny, witty and scary all at the same time and has the ability to create an amazing, positive, energy which brings the audience together as soon as she steps onto the stage and she keeps this up until the show is finished. Go Maureen!

  9. I have been gigging at Maureen’s shows for a few years now and can honestly say that it’s always an absolute pleasure to perform. Not only she is a total professional with the acts, completely supportive, and a brilliant MC, there is invariably a warm and friendly audience, and great ambiance all of which make for a lovely experience.

  10. I have been going to My Comedy events since 2011 & I’ve kept going back (like many others) because of the constant stream of fresh, exciting and dynamic comics. Many of the comics I’ve seen over the years, across cities have been highly experienced, some have just been cutting their teeth in the world of comedy but are all held together by the quick-witted, spontaneous and persistently hilarious Maureen Younger. Maureen never misses a beat and sometimes changes the entire directional of her material because of something that’s come out of her interaction with the audience; I will never forget her bellowing through an intimate venue above a London bar in a New York accent which became the motif for that night.

  11. Having watched comedians like Jen Brister, Zoe Lyons and Mercedes Benson at what is now MY Comedy, this is the best comedy night out! There will be parts of the evening that may descend into hilarious mayhem, how could it be otherwise when compered by the hilarious and irreverent Maureen Younger? I guarantee – you will go home laughing!
