Bespoke Comedy Nights

Besides organising regular comedy nights, I have also organised major charity shows in the West End for the Helen Bamber Foundation. These shows featured the likes of Jo Brand and Jenny Éclair.

I have also organised and compered several shows for Shout, a festival that promotes, showcases and presents the best in LGBT Arts and Queer Culture throughout Birmingham and the West Midlands.  In addition, I have organised benefit comedy nights for the Women’s Networking Hub and for the Bradford Literature Festival as well as for Coventry Pride.

SHOUT Festival has worked in partnership with My Comedy (formerly Laughing Cows) to programme comedy nights at successive festivals for the last four years editions. The shows have always been a huge success with sell-out shows and excellent audience feedback. Maureen Younger programmes the best in female comic talent, both established and up-and-coming, with the shows offering a top notch line up that never fails to surprise and entertain an audience.

I would recommend this fun night to any festival programmer.

Maureen Younger has for many years been an asset to many of my clients’ events, firstly as a performer, and then increasingly as a co-ordinator and producer of shows for both corporate and public audiences. Maureen selects exactly the right acts for the audience and is exceptionally well connected in the comedy circuit, as well as being a great promoter. At Light House Media Centre in Wolverhampton, she brought together a fabulous cast of comics for an all women show which pulled in a huge audience with very good feedback.

MY Comedy produced the midlands part of our Spreading the Love national tour. They have a reputation for producing successful comedy nights and all three of our events sold out! Maureen Younger has a loyal fan base, strong links with local press and knowledge of key venues and events to target for promotion. She provided us with a range of options to suit different budgets. We look forward to collaborating with MY Comedy again.

I was lucky enough to work with Maureen for several years in my fundraising post at the Helen Bamber Foundation, for which Maureen ran a regular comedy night in aid of the charity. I cannot tell you how much our Foundation appreciated Maureen’s efforts – she spread the word about our work, gathered large audiences who were delighted by her comedy sessions, and even pulled in big names like Jo Brand and Jenny Eclair. The line up she got together was outstanding, and the audience and press alike adored every one of the galas Maureen put on. The money she raised for our charity has proven invaluable for our ongoing work with survivors of torture and trafficking.

Maureen is the most organised comedienne I know. She sets advance deadlines, plans meticulously, and runs events as if they are effortless. Friendly and approachable, she has a lovely participative attitude – not something that comedy is always good at – and she is hilariously witty but never unfriendly. Outrageously funny, professional and enthusiastic, she’s an asset to any event.

womens networking hub

Maureen is not only a wonderful source of support to our organisation the ‘Women’s Networking Hub’ she is also an amazing woman, comedian, and all round fabulous organiser. I can’t recommend her highly enough to other women’s sector and voluntary organisations – what more can I say, other than a great big fat THANK YOU Maureen!

I have programmed Maureen to organise a number of comedy events at different venues, she always comes up with a fantastic line up and works hard at marketing the events! I highly recommend her as a comedian, a host or to programme a comedy event.’

Maureen is a total professional and a joy to work, she is efficient and organised and dedicated to her craft before she even gets on stage. Then when she does she is a complete Jem. We have loved working with her and look forward to doing so again soon. (Tim Mackrill, Theatre Manager, Palace Theatre, Redditch)
